Bad Day - American Idol 2006 Theme Song
Did you watched American Idol? I did, especially the 5th season (2006).
Well, actually i didn’t really interested in the singing, i just interested in the reality show, how peoples struggles to become an artist (they call it "Idol" anyway) and sometimes they did many bizzare things just to fulfilling their dream =p.
"Unless the LORD builds the house, They labor in vain who build it; Unless the LORD guards the city, The watchman stays awake in vain" - Psalm 127:1
I didn’t say hard efforts were wrong, but if we did it without the Lord, it just return in void.
Okay, talking about AI, did you noticed the song at the end of the elimination?
They played it when the contestant(s) got eliminated because he/she had the lowest number of votes, while they show his/her journey’s flashback (his/her hard effort, emotion, memories, etc) in the screen.
The lyric was somehow like this, "cause you had a bad day, you taking one down, …" and so on.
At first, i thought it was an amused song that give some advises or some conclusions how to get rid from a bad day, to the listener.
"If you had a bad day, you shouldn’t be sad but you should do…something…something…" whatever =p –> that’s what i thought.
Then i began to search the lyric and the song in the internet, and yippee!
I found it.
The lyric was like this:
Verse:
Where is the moment we needed the most
You kick up the leaves and the magic is lost
They tell me your blue skies fade to grey
They tell me your passion’s gone away
And I don’t need no carryin’ on
You stand in the line just to hit a new low
You’re faking a smile with the coffee to go
You tell me your life’s been way off line
You’re falling to pieces everytime
And I don’t need no carryin’ on
Reff:
Cause you had a bad day
You’re taking one down
You sing a sad song just to turn it around
You say you don’t know
You tell me don’t lie
You work at a smile and you go for a ride
You had a bad day
The camera don’t lie
You’re coming back down and you really don’t mind
You had a bad day
You had a bad day
Another Verse:
Well you need a blue sky holiday
The point is they laugh at what you say
And I don’t need no carryin’ on
Bridge:
Sometimes the system goes on the blink
And the whole thing turns out wrong
You might not make it back and you know
That you could be well oh that strong
And I’m not wrong
…
Sorry i cut out the lyric because it’s very long. If you want to search the lyric, the artist was "Daniel Powter" and the song title was "Bad Day".
After reading the lyric, i was very dissapointed, because it’s not like what i thought. The story of the song was just about someone trying to cheering up his/her girlfriend who’s had a bad day and trying to hid it from him. He said it’s happened sometimes and his only conclusion was the girl need a holiday.
Well, that’s not a good conclusion and it’s not very amusing at all, although the rhythm was good. =(
But, it did taught me one thing, that the source of joy is not holiday, but only in my Jesus Christ.
Don’t get affected with the song. So, if you had a girlfriend (or boyfriend) and he/she had a bad day, sing it like this:
if you had a bad day
don’t you taking one down
sing a joyful song and not to turn it around
